Tetra Chamber Music Institute

THE SOUTHWEST’S PREMIER CHAMBER MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAM

Chamber music is one of the most challenging and collaborative forms of music making.

In a world dominated by screen time and social media, studying chamber music is an opportunity for students to connect and communicate organically in a creative setting. It is a shared journey of learning how to articulate ideas with confidence, listen with intention, and support one another through a musical process that transcends the individual.

What is TCMI?

The mission of the Tetra Chamber Music Institute (TCMI) is to train young musicians to perform in small ensembles with excellence and channel their creative strengths to effect positive change in themselves and the community. Our programs focus on each student as an individual with the goal of nurturing each participant intellectually, emotionally, and musically.

In TCMI programs, students participate in peer-led rehearsals, coachings, formal recitals, and community concerts. All of these experiences allow students to grow and develop their skills in unique ways.

TCMI students work with the Tetra String Quartet

Tetra String Quartet has been teaching chamber music education in the valley since 2012 (shout-out to everyone who attended a Tetra Camp!) We’ve now expanded to two programs: Summer Workshops, and our year-round after-school Tetra Chamber Music Institute which began in 2021. The members of Tetra and TCMI faculty bring a vast amount of experience teaching chamber music technique, working with youth, coaching public speaking skills, providing essential communication tools, and celebrating students strengths. Tetra has a deep understanding of what is required to be successful chamber musicians, drawing upon our own experiences as a professional string quartet.
