1) Video record your TCMI audition (either individual or pre-formed group)

You don’t need fancy recording equipment -you can use your phone! We just want to be able to see and hear you in order to have a general understanding of your playing.

2) Upload your video recording to YouTube

We don’t mind if you record the solo and metronome excerpt as two separate videos, just be sure to include both links in your application.

3) Make sure your video recording is unlisted, unless you want to share it with everyone!

You can change the video privacy to ‘unlisted’ while uploading the video (as seen in this tutorial https://youtu.be/JeEzkb1X554?t=334 ) OR from the YouTube video once it’s uploaded by clicking ‘Edit Video’ OR by accessing the YouTube Studio Channel Content page.

4) Include your recording link (or links) in your TCMI application and DO NOT delete.

Because of the way our program is designed, the members of Tetra spend a lot of time and energy forming each TCMI small chamber group and assigning repertoire to be the best fit for each student. If a student drops out of our program last-minute or there’s a change, it helps us greatly to be able to refer back to these audition recordings.

*If you plan on applying for another TCMI program within the next 10 months, you can choose to reuse this recording as your audition.

5) Having trouble with any of the above steps?

We recommend reaching out to your private lesson teacher for help! It is now the norm to send pre-screening and audition recordings this way for summer programs, universities, conservatories, etc. Most private lesson teachers have a great deal of experience with this for themselves and/or their students. If you ever plan on applying to more music programs this is a really great opportunity to get comfortable recording and uploading your own auditions!
